Job summary

The Skagit Casino Resort is seeking a Payroll Assistant to join our team. This full-time position focuses on accurate timekeeping, payroll processing, and maintaining payroll records while providing responsive support to our team members.

You will handle time logs, verify attendance data, balance daily, weekly, and bi-weekly records, and assist with payroll system updates and backup duties for the Payroll Department.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum three years’ experience in a similar payroll role at a comparable operation.
• Two years of experience with payroll dataset systems at a comparably sized operation.
• Two years of experience with time and attendance clocks at a comparable operation.

Responsibilities

Job description

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with numbers? We are looking for a full-time dependable Payroll Assistant to join our team and help ensure accurate timekeeping and payroll operations in our fast-paced casino resort environment. In this role, you will also play an important part in supporting our team members and maintaining accurate payroll records while providing backup support to the Payroll Department.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and distributes departmental time logs.
• Receives, balances, collects, verifies and/or computer entries for all time and attendance.
• Receives, verifies, and balances time and attendance on a daily, weekly, and bi-weekly basis.
• Ensures supporting documentation is provided as required.
• Maintains awareness for discrepancies or odd circumstances and investigates as required.
• Assists in updating system for correct input of new hires.
• Creates and maintains spreadsheets for balancing and tracking purposes.
• Calculates, reconciles, and balances toke counting hours on a bi-weekly basis.
• Processes wage verifications for various agencies, assuring that the employee has signed a release for such.
• Prepares paychecks for distribution, i.e. inserts and seals checks in envelopes.
• Maintains all filing records as to be in compliance with audits.
• Assists with all employee questions.
• Supports Payroll Department, as necessary, with all other payroll processes.

What We Are Looking For

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum three years’ previous experience in a similar role at a comparable sized operation.
• Must have two years prior experience in payroll dataset systems at a comparably sized operation.
• Must have two years previous experience working with time and attendance clocks at a comparably sized operation.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Basic math, data entry, and computer skills.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and the ability to maintain accurate records.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate discrepancies.
• Professional communication skills and a commitment to guest service.
• The ability to handle confidential employee and payroll information with discretion.
