Overview

We are seeking a full-time Payroll Analyst 3 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for performing advanced payroll analysis, reconciliation, research, compliance and problem-solving activities that support accurate, compliant and efficient payroll operations independently. This role serves as an advanced payroll professional providing guidance on advanced payroll matters, leads projects and develops scalable solutions that improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, compliance and risk management.

Essential Functions
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in payroll processing, time/attendance processing activities, systems and compliance matters
  • Leverage payroll knowledge to perform advanced payroll analysis and reconciliations across payroll cycles and related processes
  • Investigate complex payroll discrepancies and identifies root causes and appropriate resolutions
  • Ensure compliance with HR related legislation and regulations along with Garmin HR/Payroll policies with oversight from HR management and Legal
  • Ensure payroll tax procedures are compliant with all governmental regulations
  • Ensure compliance with multi-state taxing jurisdiction and reporting
  • Monitor and process restricted stock vesting activity to ensure accurate and compliant W-2 reporting
  • Complete jurisdictional setups, changes and deletions, coordinating with Tax and Finance departments
  • Assist with review of tax amendments
  • Collaborate with ADP and handle responses to agency tax notices or audits
  • Review for auditing/compliance the administration of garnishments, child support orders, bankruptcies and levies according to local, state and federal regulations
  • Assist with biweekly journal entries into month end allocations for compliance
  • Assist with responding to inquiries from Finance regarding journal entries and troubleshoot budget related inquiries
  • Develop and provide advanced reporting using software reporting tools
  • Develop and participate in process improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve payroll efficiency, accuracy and controls
  • Lead projects of larger scope or workstreams within payroll
  • Identify, develop and maintain procedures, controls and process documentation
  • Apply a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with other Garmin associates and perform as a solid contributor on cross functional teams to achieve goals
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation and personal information
  • Provide leadership, training and guidance to less experienced team members
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or another related discipline AND a minimum of 5 years of work experience performing a substantially similar role OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Ability to perform advanced work requiring a high degree of attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency
  • Ability to work effectively with sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Must possess proficient to advanced computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Demonstrates proficient to advanced knowledge of payroll processing, leveraging knowledge of payroll compliance and payroll tax regulations
  • Demonstrates proficient to advanced understanding of HR, Finance, and Payroll related legislation, practices, processes, programs and technology
  • Ability to apply broad-based payroll knowledge to business needs in a proactive manner and determine best practice to support organizational direction
  • Demonstrated advanced problem solving and conflict resolution experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and process improvement
  • Strong ability to influence and collaborate across functions
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring less experienced payroll team members
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
  • Serve as a leader for demonstrating strong organizational skills with superior time management and follow-up skills
  • Serve as a leader for demonstrating strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with ADP Vantage system
  • Experience working with UKG timekeeping system
  • Previous experience with implementing and/or upgrading payroll or Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) software
  • Previous experience processing payroll for 1000+ employees
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)-APA
