Job summary

Current Lighting Employee Co Llc is seeking a Global Payroll Manager in Greenville, SC to oversee domestic and international outsourced payroll processing and ensure accuracy and compliance. You will collaborate across HR, finance, and HRIS, manage 401(k) plans, bonuses, and severance payments, and maintain data confidentiality.

This role requires extensive payroll knowledge, audit experience, and proficiency with SAP/ADP, Power BI, and Excel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance or HR.
  • 15+ years of experience in payroll management.
  • Strong knowledge of US payroll regulations and Canadian laws.
  • Experience with payroll audits and compliance assessments.
  • Proficiency with SAP and/or ADPPayroll systems and related GL interfaces.
  • Ability to maintain high confidentiality and integrity of payroll data.
  • Proficient in Excel; experience with Power BI a plus.

Responsibilities

Global Payroll Manager

As a Global Payroll Manager, you will oversee all aspects of global (domestic and international) outsourced payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely payments of employees. You will also collaborate with various departments to gather and validate payroll information, resolve payroll discrepancies, record Payroll expenses and accruals and provide exceptional service to our employees.

The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of payroll regulations, exceptional organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

This role is located in our Greenville, SC HQ.

Objectives of this role

  • Overseeing third party processing end-to-end payroll processing, including salary calculations, deductions and benefits administration, insurance and healthcare plans. Includes processing tasks not included in the third-party processors scope.
  • Monitoring and resolving payroll tax issues using ADP SmartCompliance. Preparing payroll reports and participating in month, quarter and annual close activities.
  • Conducting regular payroll audits and ensuring compliance with US and Canadian laws, tax regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Collaborating with the human resources and finance departments to seamlessly integrate payroll and employee data.
  • Work together with HRIS for any system changes/upgrades/process improvements.
  • Processing new hires, terminations, promotions and other employee status changes in the payroll system, to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assure timely processing of weekly Payroll GL entries and monthly accruals.
  • Liaison between the Global Controller and payrolls in US, Canda, Mexico, China and Great Britan.
  • Responsible for process standardization and optimization across all payrolls.
  • Approval of all payrolls prior to submission to third party providers.
  • Update BI reporting tool weekly. Tool is critical to analysis of payroll results prior to submission to third party gross-to-net processors.
  • Calculate and submit 401K Quarterly Match with assistance for the BI Tool.
  • Manage the funding of multiple 401K Plans and Providers.
  • Manage the funding of Union dues.
  • Manage payment of various bonus plans and severance payments.
  • Manage third party end-to-end payroll processing. Third part responsibilities include collecting, calculating and inputting payroll data for all employees.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company policies while processing payroll.
  • Manage responses to HR/Payroll items included in Annual Financial Audit (both Interim and Actual audit), Ohio Workers Compensation or any additional audit as they arise.
  • Assist with 401K annual audit as required.
  • Administer and maintain payroll systems including General Ledger Interface file layouts and modules, ensure data integrity and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with HR, HRIS, finance and other departments to gather and validate payroll information, such as new hires, terminations, promotions and salary changes.
  • Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues promptly and accurately.
  • Generate payroll reports, including tax follow ups with ADP, benefits deductions and other required reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Address employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll, providing exceptional customer service and support. All Employee inquires requiring verbal contact is performed by the Global Payroll Manager – only written communication is used by the third-party processing company to resolve issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security standards for all payroll-related information.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations, and industry trends, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and best practices.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in payroll management.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, labor laws, taxation and statutory compliance.
  • Experience in handling payroll audits, inspections and compliance assessments.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems, such as SAP and/or ADP, with experience implementing and managing payroll systems, including implementation of General Ledger Interface set up and processing.
  • Excellent understanding of financial principles and the ability to reconcile payroll with financial records.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing complex payroll calculation data.
  • Manage addition/change of cost center assignments at the employee level.
  • Good organizational and time management skills to meet strict payroll deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Power BI.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Relevant professional certification in payroll management, such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
  • Knowledge of US multi-state payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of US 401K and Canadian RRSP plan administration.
  • Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and time and attendance systems.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices related to payroll.
  • Ability to adapt to changing payroll regulations and implement necessary updates.
  • A basic working knowledge of ERISA
  • An understanding of compensation definitions under qualified plans, and how it relates to the plan document, and how all procedures (including payroll) related to retirement plans must conform to the plan document.
  • An understanding of the VFCP
  • Annual Salary:$125,000–$156,000, based on experience and qualifications.
