Job summary

Onterris in Irvine, CA is seeking a Payroll Analyst to deliver accurate, timely payroll across North America on a hybrid schedule (Tue/Thu in the office). You will own payroll processing, stay compliant with wage and hour laws, and work with external auditors and government agencies.

Responsibilities

• Analyses, prepares and inputs payroll data to produce accurate, timely payroll and ensures compliance with wage and hour laws
• Review, audit, and upload payroll taxes from Workday to ADP for processing
• Maintain knowledge of wage and hour regulations and SOX compliance
• Facilitate understanding of payroll procedures across the organization
• Assist managers with resolving payroll discrepancies
• Calculate hours from time entry systems as applicable
• Support HR/Payroll transformation projects and initiatives
• Evaluate payroll systems, policies and processes; recommend automation opportunities
• Assist with post-payroll reporting and reconciliation
• Maintain confidentiality at all times
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
• Stay current on industry trends via training and workshops

A Day in the Life

The Payroll Analyst will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and compliant payroll across North America. In this role, you'll help coordinate and monitor payroll activities necessary to accomplish our payroll processing objectives, as well as maintain strong relationships with external auditors and tax government agencies.

We're looking for someone with at least five years of payroll processing experience, including hands-on payroll tax expertise, who is ready to take ownership and make an impact. This role will be based in Irvine, CA on a hybrid schedule Tuesday/Thursday.

The compensation range is $70,000 - $80,000 USD, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

• Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data using an automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll, and ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
• Review, audit, and upload all federal, state, and local payroll taxes from Workday to ADP for processing.
• Maintains current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, etc.
• Facilitates management and employee understanding of payroll procedures.
• Assists managers with resolving payroll discrepancies.
• Calculates hours from time entry system(s) as applicable.
• Assists with HR/Payroll transformation projects and initiatives.
• Evaluate payroll systems, policies and processes, recommend opportunities to automate or streamline, as well as support enhancements.
• Assist with completing pre-acquisition and post-acquisition support tasks related to payroll integration and training, etc.
• Assist with post-payroll reporting and reconciliation activities.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality at all times.
• Contribute to continuous improvement programs and team priorities.
• Stay current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Your Expertise and Skills

These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here:

• 5+ years of experience with payroll systems and related software programs
• 3+ years of experience in a role where you were responsible for US payroll taxes.
• College Degree or High School Diploma with CPP/FPC
• Familiarity with Workday, ADP Smart Compliance, ADP Payment Solutions, or other HRIS/Payroll systems highly preferred
• Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to payroll, company policies, and operations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel
• Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Excellent organization and time/project management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
• English language competency
