Job summary

CFS is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator in Saint Paul, MN (onsite) to own payroll operations for a multi-state workforce. This hands-on role requires delivering accurate, timely payroll and resolving issues to ensure employees are paid correctly.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in payroll, familiarity with multi-state rules, and proficiency with major payroll systems. CPP certification is a plus, and advanced Excel skills are beneficial.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll experience.
• Experience with multi-state payroll preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll taxes, garnishments, deductions, and payroll compliance.
• Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paylocity, UKG, or similar platforms.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for ~370 employees across multiple states.
• Review timesheets, earnings, deductions, benefits, and garnishments for accuracy.
• Maintain employee payroll records and payroll-related changes.
• Respond to employee and manager payroll questions.
• Assist with payroll tax compliance and payroll reporting.
• Prepare payroll-related journal entries and support reconciliations.
• Review payroll data and identify discrepancies before submission.
• Support year-end payroll activities, audits, and reporting requirements.
• Partner with HR and Accounting to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, solving payroll issues, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

What You'll Be Doing

• Process weekly payroll for approximately 370 employees across multiple states
• Review timesheets, earnings, deductions, benefits, and garnishments for accuracy
• Maintain employee payroll records and process payroll-related changes
• Respond to employee and manager payroll questions
• Assist with payroll tax compliance and payroll reporting
• Prepare payroll-related journal entries and support account reconciliations
• Review payroll data and identify discrepancies before payroll submission
• Support year-end payroll activities, audits, and reporting requirements
• Partner with HR and Accounting to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance

What We're Looking For
