Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a detail‑oriented payroll and accounts payable professional for a hybrid, onsite role. The position emphasizes accurate data entry, timely processing, and secure handling of PHI and financial information.

You will manage payroll functions, time attendance, vendor invoices, and GL reconciliation while supporting audits and reporting. A strong accounting background and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience with focus on payroll and accounts payable.
• Strong knowledge of financial/accounting software with emphasis on payroll and accounts payable.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent problem solving, time management, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Display expertise in financial system applications with focus on payroll, time attendance, accounts payable and general ledger as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
• Input payroll related data for payroll processing to maintain accuracy including earnings, deductions, taxes and timekeeping
• Provide payroll related as well as time and attendance customer service to all employees and management
• Serve as backup for payroll processing and reporting
• Analyze and reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts monthly and support audit requirements
• Review and process vendor invoices and check requests in an accurate and timely manner
• Ensure proper coding, approvals, and compliance with company policies
• Respond to inquiries from vendors and management
• Resolve/research outstanding and received not invoiced balances
• Take an active role in self‑development and incorporating efficiencies within the role
• Maintains confidentiality and integrity of PHI and financial/payroll data
• Maintain personnel records associated with payroll operations and relating reporting functions
• Performs other duties as needed

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s in accounting, finance or related field or Associates in accounting, finance or related field with 5+ years of payroll/accounts payable experience
