Long Island Select Healthcare, Inc. seeks an Accountant to support the Finance department with payroll, accounts payable, and related accounting functions within a healthcare setting.

You will work with the Accounting Manager and HR on bi-weekly payroll, prepare payroll entries, process vendor invoices, and generate reports on payroll and AP activities. This role emphasizes accuracy and analytical problem solving in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of health care environment experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting software.

Responsibilities

  • Support finance department general accounting functions including payroll and accounts payable activities.
  • Work with the Accounting Manager and HR on bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Prepare payroll entries for the accounting system.
  • Coordinate backup for payroll periods with HR regarding time sheets and time worked for all staff.
  • Provide reports as directed by the Accounting Manager on payroll activities.
  • Prepare disability payment reports.
  • Process accounts payable in the accounting system on a weekly basis.
  • Be responsible for all approvals of the priority invoice listings.
  • Enter invoices into the accounts payable system.
  • Process payments per the weekly accounts payable disbursements protocol.
  • Prepare reports as directed by the Accounting Manager on AP activity.
  • Perform research on payors as needed and account histories.
  • Enter journal entries into the accounting system relative to all expenses as required.
  • Other general accounting functions.

Education and/or Experience

A successful candidate must possess a Bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited institution.

Two years of experience in the health care environment is preferred.
