Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the role focuses on transitioning payroll from external resources to internal ownership and continuous process improvement, ensuring timely, accurate pay and robust financial controls.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll administration experience preferred.
  • Experience processing multi-state U.S. payroll.
  • Canadian payroll experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting accounting processes or financial reporting.
  • Experience with Paylocity preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and business systems.

Responsibilities

  • Administer North American payrolls including U.S. bi-weekly and Canadian semi-monthly.
  • Process payroll adjustments, deductions, garnishments, and taxable benefits.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare payroll journals and reconcile payroll-related accounts.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Assist with payroll systems reporting and process improvements.

Are you a payroll professional who enjoys combining payroll expertise with accounting, compliance, and process improvement? Salto Systems Inc. is seeking a Payroll & Accounting Specialist to join our growing Finance organization.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role is responsible for payroll administration across the United States and Canada while supporting accounting operations, reconciliations, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while contributing to the overall financial accuracy and control environment of the organization. This role is being designed as part of our long-term Finance strategy and will support the transition of payroll administration from external resources to internal ownership.

What You'll Do
Payroll Administration
  • Administer all North American payrolls, including U.S. bi-weekly payroll and Canadian semi-monthly payroll.
  • Process payroll adjustments, commissions, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, and taxable benefits.
  • Review and audit payroll information to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support payroll tax administration, year-end activities, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a primary resource for employee payroll inquiries.
Time & Attendance Administration
  • Support payroll-related timekeeping processes and administration.
  • Review payroll input data and coordinate with managers to ensure payroll readiness.
  • Assist employees and managers with payroll-related timekeeping questions.
  • Monitor payroll workflows and approvals to support accurate payroll processing.
Accounting Support
  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Assist with audit requests and payroll-related financial reporting.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and documentation efforts.
  • Provide additional accounting support as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Support payroll system administration and reporting.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, and controls.
  • Participate in future Finance and system improvement initiatives.
What You Bring
Experience
  • 3+ years of payroll administration experience preferred.
  • Experience processing multi-state U.S. payroll required.
  • Canadian payroll experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting accounting processes, reconciliations, or financial reporting preferred.
  • Experience with Paylocity preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and other business systems.
