Job summary

Fire-Dex is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join our Finance team. This role ensures payroll transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported while partnering with HR, Operations, and external vendors.

You will prepare payroll journal entries, reconcile payroll GL accounts, review data for accuracy, and support month-end and year-end close processes. Strong Excel skills and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and post payroll-related journal entries.
• Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts, including wages, taxes, benefits, deductions, and accruals.
• Review payroll data and reports to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Validate payroll files, deductions, tax information, and related reporting.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to payroll accounting.
• Maintain accurate payroll records, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Partner with Human Resources, Operations, and third-party providers to address payroll questions and ensure data accuracy.
• Assist with payroll tax, benefit, retirement plan, garnishment, and deduction reconciliations.
• Support internal and external audits by providing payroll-related documentation and reports.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiencies.
• Handle sensitive employee and payroll information with the highest level of confidentiality.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
