Job summary

Fire-Dex, Inc. in Medina, OH is seeking a Payroll Accounting Analyst to join our Finance team. You will ensure payroll-related transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported, partnering with HR, Operations, and external vendors.

You’ll prepare payroll journal entries, reconcile GL accounts, review payroll data for accuracy, and support month-end through year-end close. The role calls for strong Excel skills and a detail-oriented, confidential approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 3+ years of payroll accounting or related finance experience.
• Strong knowledge of payroll accounting, taxes, deductions, accruals, and GL reconciliations.
• Experience with payroll systems, HRIS, and ERP/accounting software; advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and post payroll-related journal entries.
• Reconcile payroll-related GL accounts including wages, taxes, benefits, deductions, and accruals.
• Review payroll data and reports for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Validate payroll files, deductions, tax information, and related reporting.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to payroll accounting.
• Maintain accurate payroll records, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with HR, Operations, and external vendors to address payroll questions and data accuracy.
• Assist with payroll tax, benefit, retirement plan, garnishment, and deduction reconciliations.
• Support internal and external audits with payroll-related documentation and reports.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiencies.
