Job summary

Minnesota Counties Intergovernmental Trust (MCIT) is seeking a payroll accountant/human resources assistant to support payroll, accounting backups within the finance unit, and human resources functions. The role sits within MCIT, a joint powers government entity providing cost-effective coverage and risk management services to its members.

Typical duties include payroll processing with tax withholdings, tax filing preparation, benefits enrollment, recruiting support, onboarding and exits, and

Qualifications

• A two-year degree in accounting, human resources, business administration or other related field from an accredited college or university; or comparable experience
• At least two years of human resources and/or accounting experience
• Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word (or similar) skills
• Excellent critical thinking skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Processing all payroll activity, including withholdings of taxes and benefits
• Preparing and reconciling tax filings
• Employee benefit enrollment and maintenance
• Supporting the recruitment, onboarding and exit processes
• Back-up to finance manager and staff accountants as needed
• Other core payroll and human resources functions as assigned
