Job summary

PAX Technology in Jacksonville, FL seeks a Technical Documentation Specialist to develop and maintain documentation for payment devices, software, cloud services, and partner ecosystems. This role translates complex concepts into clear docs for developers, engineers, and customers.

The ideal candidate has a background in technical communication and 3–5+ years creating technical content across software and hardware products, with strong editing and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Communications, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5+ years of experience creating technical documentation for software, hardware, SaaS, or technology products.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to translate highly technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation for developers, engineers and non-technical audiences.
• Experience creating documentation for both developers/engineers and customer-facing guides, tutorials, and knowledge bases.
• Strong interviewing and communication skills to gather information from SMEs.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation including user guides, installation guides, quick start guides, release notes, FAQs, knowledge base articles, troubleshooting guides, and developer documentation.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, QA, Technical Support, Compliance, Marketing, and Training to gather technical information and translate it into clear documentation.
• Develop documentation standards, templates, style guides, and best practices for consistency across all docs.
• Maintain version control and keep documentation current as products evolve.
• Organize and manage internal/external knowledge bases to improve accessibility and self-service.
• Produce documentation supporting payment devices, Android apps, cloud services, developer tools, software platforms, and integrated payment solutions.
• Create diagrams, workflows, screenshots, and visuals to enhance understanding.
• Review existing docs to identify gaps and improve clarity.
• Support new product launches with complete, accurate documentation.
• Continuously improve documentation processes, tools, and standards.
