Job summary

Polar is seeking a Risk & Compliance Specialist to protect the integrity of the platform by reviewing merchants and ensuring policy compliance. You will work with Merchant Support, Product and Operations to balance merchant experience with risk management.

In a small, engineering-led team, you will review merchant applications, investigate fraud signals, and help scale risk workflows as Polar grows. Strong analytical thinking and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in Risk Operations, Trust & Safety, Compliance, Fraud or Payments.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written communication and ability to explain complex decisions.
• Experience reviewing accounts, investigating fraud, or evaluating merchant risk.
• Ability to prioritize and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Familiarity with SQL to investigate data and risk signals (a plus).

Responsibilities

• Review new merchant applications and assess eligibility.
• Conduct ongoing account reviews to identify changes in risk profile.
• Evaluate merchants for compliance with Acceptable Use Policy and platform requirements.
• Investigate fraud, payment risk signals, disputes, chargebacks, and other suspicious activity.
• Manage merchant offboarding, payout holds, and other risk-mitigation actions.
• Partner with payment providers and internal teams to resolve compliance issues.
• Document review decisions and maintain internal processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve risk workflows, tooling, and efficiency.
• Monitor emerging abuse trends and elevate complex cases to leadership.
