Job summary

First Federal Bank of Louisiana in Lake Charles, LA seeks a Payments Specialist to join the main office team. The role manages same-day and next-day payments, supports treasury services, and provides expert payment guidance to customers and staff.

The position is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–6:30 PM, 40 hours weekly, onsite. The ideal candidate brings experience in ACH, wires, checks, card payments, and real-time payments, with attention to risk controls and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum five years in a financial institution or two years in payments including ACH, wires, checks, card payments, and real-time payments.
• Professional certifications preferred: AAP, NCP, APRP, and/or AFPP.

Responsibilities

• Provides escalated payment product support to customers; provides direct payment support employees
• Processes and balances daily payment exceptions reports
• Utilizes technology and multiple programs within the Bank; serves as subject matter expert for payment applications
• Maintains teller and merchant remote deposit supply inventory to support operations
• Oversees treasury management services and vendor support for remote deposit, ACH origination, and positive pay
• Assists with risk controls for payment rails and fraud monitoring systems
• Supports audits and procedures for the payments area; ensures compliance with policies
• Serves on Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Team and coordinates with 3rd party vendors
