Job summary

Tomorrow.io is building and operating a weather observation constellation with internally developed sensing tech to capture atmospheric data and deliver actionable insights. We seek a Payload Systems Engineer to translate mission objectives into technical requirements and drive integration, verification, and performance across the payload lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 4-7+ years of experience developing, integrating, and testing complex engineered systems, specifically satellite payloads or similar hardware.
• Strong knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, payload integration, and performance modeling.
• Experience with system-level architecture, requirements management, interface control, and verification planning.
• Familiarity with MBSE or similar structured systems approaches.
• Experience performing system-level trade studies and risk mitigation.
• Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary engineering and scientific domains.
• Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to operate in dynamic, fast-moving development environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop satellite payload systems for constellation programs.
• Define requirements, coordinate interfaces, plan integrations, and document tests.
• Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams and stakeholders.
• Deliver reliable, mission-ready systems meeting operational objectives.
• Bridge hands-on engineering with system-level thinking and mission execution.
• Support architecture definition and design across lifecycle from concept to operations.
• Contribute to system-level trade studies and performance modeling.
• Establish and maintain requirements, interfaces, and verification docs.
• Identify technical risks and support mitigation planning.
• Track technical performance with program leadership and support test planning.
