Job summary

Turion Space Corp. in Irvine, CA is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer, Payload Electronics & Integration to drive system-level thinking across the payload stack.

You will interface with EE, FPGA and Firmware teams to define, integrate, and validate complex electronic systems powering our space vehicles. You will manage ICDs for data links, power, and telemetry; participate in HITL testing and payload integration; and translate high-level requirements into hardware/software specifications

Qualifications

• 3 to 6+ years of experience in systems engineering, electrical engineering, embedded systems, or a closely related multidisciplinary field.
• Experience analyzing systems across hardware-software boundary; understanding how firmware impacts hardware and vice versa.
• Familiarity with Python, C/C++, or MATLAB for data analysis, hardware automation, or system modeling.
• Strong knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, FPGA workflows, and low-level firmware.
• Experience with EO/IR payloads, sensor integration, or camera systems.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, Ethernet, or SerDes.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders.
• Familiarity with system engineering tracking tools (Jama, DOORS, Jira).

Responsibilities

• Drive system-level thinking across software, firmware, and electronics; ensure payload architectures meet requirements.
• Act as the technical bridge between payload, EE, FPGA, and Firmware to translate requirements into specs.
• Document and manage ICDs for data links, power distribution and telemetry.
• Collaborate on HITL testing, bring-up strategies, and payload integration test plans.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose anomalies across hardware, firmware, and software.
