Job summary

Turion Space seeks a Mid-Level Systems Engineer, Payload Electronics & Integration in Irvine, CA. You will ensure system‑level thinking across payload software, firmware, and electronics, interfacing with EE, FPGA, and Firmware teams to define, integrate, and validate complex electronic subsystems.

You will document ICDs, manage HITL testing, and participate in cross‑disciplinary troubleshooting to de‑risk electronics early in development.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6+ years of experience in systems engineering, EE, embedded systems or related field.
• Deep understanding of firmware-hardware interactions and data analysis with Python/C++/MATLAB.
• Embedded systems concepts, FPGA workflows, and low‑level firmware/software architectures.
• Experience with EO/IR payloads, sensor or camera integration is a plus.
• Knowledge of digital electronics, power budgeting and protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes).
• Strong communication and ability to translate concepts between hardware and software teams.
• Experience with Jama, DOORS, Jira for traceability.

Responsibilities

• Drive system-level thinking across software, firmware, and electronics for payload architectures.
• Act as technical bridge between payload, EE, FPGA, and Firmware teams to translate requirements.
• Document and manage ICDs for data links, power, and telemetry interfaces.
• Plan HITL testing, bring-up strategies, and integration test plans for subsystems.
• Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis across hardware, firmware, and software.
