Brown & Brown in Garden City, NY is seeking a Payables Processor to join our growing team. This role manages carrier accounting activities, including reconciliations, carrier payables, and premium corrections, collaborating with carriers and underwriting teams to keep financial records accurate.

You will review and process vendor invoices, resolve checks aged 90+ days, and support direct bill commissions to agencies. A background in accounting and a detail‑oriented mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• School Diploma or GED; 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business (preferred).
• Insurance experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for Account Current and/or Item Basis reports and reconciliation.
• Responsible for Account Current and/or Item Basis Carrier payables.
• Assists with premium corrections and day-to-day accounting issues with underwriting teams.
• Correspond with carriers regarding balances and works with Carriers and/or underwriting teams to resolve issues.
• Correspond with carriers to ensure return premium funds are collected timely and recorded appropriately.
• Review, verify and process vendor invoices.
• Responsible for reviewing and resolving outstanding checks aged 90 days or greater.
• Assists with Direct bill commission payables to agencies.
• Cross-trained in accounting functions to help fill-in covering vacations or any other absences.
