Job summary

Brown & Brown in Garden City, NY is seeking an Accounts Payables Processor to join our growing team. The role focuses on managing carrier accounting activities, including reconciliations, carrier payables, and premium corrections, in collaboration with carriers and underwriting teams.

You will review vendor invoices, resolve aged checks, assist with direct bill commissions, and cross-train to cover vacations.

Qualifications

• Diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business (preferred).
• Insurance experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Reconcile Account Current and/or Item Basis reports and reconciliation.
• Reconcile Carrier payables and process vendor invoices.
• Assist with premium corrections and day-to-day accounting issues with underwriting teams.
• Correspond with carriers to resolve balances and discrepancies.
• Ensure timely collection and proper recording of return premium funds.
• Review and resolve outstanding checks aged 90 days or greater.
• Assist with Direct bill commissions payables to agencies.
• Cross-trained in accounting functions to cover vacations or absences.

Brown & Brown is seeking an Accounts Payables Processor to join our growing team in Garden City, NY!

The Payables processor will be responsible for managing carrier accounting activities, including account reconciliation, carrier payables, balance resolution and premium corrections. Collaborate with carriers and underwriting teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate financial records.

How You Will Contribute:

• Responsible for Account Current and/or Item Basis reports and reconciliation.
• Responsible for Account Current and/or Item Basis Carrier payables.
• Assists with premium corrections and day-to-day accounting issues with underwriting teams.
• Correspond with carriers regarding balances & works with Carriers and/or underwriting teams to resolve issues and reconcile discrepancies.
• Correspond with carriers to ensure return premium funds are collected timely and recorded appropriately.
• Review, verify and process vendor invoices.
• Responsible for reviewing and resolving outstanding checks aged 90 days or greater.
• Assists with Direct bill commission payables to agencies.
• Cross-trained in accounting functions to help fill-in covering vacations or any other absences

Skills & Experience to be Successful:

• School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one – three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Pay Range

$27.00 - $30.00 Hourly

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
