Job summary

The City of Montrose is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Specialist for the Pavilion. Under direct supervision, you will maintain the Pavilion building, assist with event setup, and provide customer service during performances.

You will operate and maintain sound and lighting systems, oversee mechanical systems like heating, electrical, and air conditioning, and perform minor repairs. A flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, and weekends is required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Three years experience in a civic/performing arts center doing similar duties or equivalent education/experience.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Pavilion Manager to adjust staff to meet event needs (lighting, sound, set-up, customer service).
  • Coordinate and manage Pavilion events and functions.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all Pavilion facilities, rooms, auditorium, restrooms and grounds.
  • Perform grounds maintenance, set-up and event support duties.
  • Provide high-level customer service to Pavilion users and event attendees.
  • Maintain Pavilion mechanical systems (heating, electrical, air conditioning) and perform minor repairs; inspect tools and equipment.
  • Repair systems as needed and inform Pavilion Manager of major issues needing outside help.
  • Operate light and sound equipment during events and support clients in using systems for performances.

Basic Purpose Of The Job

Under direct supervision, responsible for the maintenance of the Pavilion building, event set up and customer service assistance. Knowledge, maintenance and utilization of the sound and lighting systems in the Performing Arts Center and maintenance of the other mechanical systems of the Pavilion.

Essential Functions
  • Work with the Pavilion Manager on adjusting the staff requirements to meet the needs of each event including lighting, sound, set-up, and customer service.
  • Responsible for the overall production and coordination of Pavilion events and functions.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness of the Pavilion facilities, including event rooms, auditorium, restrooms and grounds.
  • Perform a variety of duties in the areas of grounds maintenance, set-up and event support.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to the users of the Pavilion and customers during events.
  • Perform maintenance of the Pavilion mechanical systems, i.e., heating plant and electrical and air conditioning systems as well as minor building repairs as needed. Inspect and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Make repairs to the systems and inform the Pavilion Manager of any major problems requiring outside professional assistance.
  • Perform tasks including light and sound equipment operation during events. Maintain the sound and lighting systems for the Performing Arts Center and assist the appropriate clients with operating the systems used during performances.

Job Requirements
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Three (3) years experience working in a similar position in a civic/performing arts center performing similar duties or a combination of education and experience required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, nights and weekends.
Licensures & Certificates (must be active and current.)
  • Technical school certification in electrical/lighting/sound systems preferred.
  • Current Colorado driver's license with acceptable record.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Moderate to strenuous physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of fifty (50) pounds; frequent lifting, carrying, walking and standing, hand/eye coordination for operation of personal computer; vision for reading documents; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communications with employees and citizens. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasional indoor office work requires sitting at a desk or table for periods of time and the use of a computer and screen. Occasional outside work, with exposure to outside elements. Requires driving and walking during inclement weather. Frequent exposure to cleaning products including bleach as well as other chemicals such as oils, solvents and paint.   • Medical Insurance: Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) medical plan, administered by UMR. This is a high deductible health plan. You will receive the maximum benefits under the plan and pay a smaller amount out of your pocket when you seek medical treatment from a United Healthcare Choice Plus network provider.
  • Dental Insurance: Coverage is offered through UMR to provide dental and orthodontic care. In addition, our dental plan has no network which allows you to see any dentist you prefer.
  • Vision Insurance: Coverage is offered through VSP for assistance with contacts, glasses, or other vision needs.
  • Health Savings Account: A savings account that is tax-free and interest-bearing that you can use to pay for qualified medical expenses like doctor visits, prescriptions, and emergency room bills. The City of Montrose provides an employer contribution at the beginning of the year.
  • Life and AD&D Insurance: City-paid policies provide security for you and your family. Additional voluntary plans are available to supplement City-paid plans for employees and their dependents.
  • Retirement Plan: A defined contribution investment program for non-sworn employees. The City will contribute 8% of your gross base wages. Sworn Police Officers are enrolled in a defined benefit investment program through FPPA.
