Position: Paver Operator

As a Paver Operator, your responsibilities include safely operating heavy rolling machines to compact earth fills, subgrades, flexible bases, and bituminous surfaces to meet grade specifications in preparation for constructing highways, streets, and runways.

This is a seasonal position, allowing you to utilize your winters for travel, hunting, fishing, or other activities, while your benefits continue year-round.

Salary range: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Hours per week: 40+

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform daily equipment inspections and site inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions and ensure proper maintenance.
2. Perform maintenance on roller equipment safely and properly.
3. Operate roller equipment safely and properly.
4. Identify appropriate rolling patterns and operate the machine to produce a quality surface.
5. Adjust speed and direction based on material compressibility and temperature changes to prevent ridges.
6. Assist laborers or other operators with dumping trucks and load counting.
7. Help clean curb and gutter areas.
8. Communicate effectively and work well under high-stress situations, maintaining positive relations and respecting others.
9. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to material quality and equipment operation.
10. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulations.
11. Assist with loading and unloading equipment, including load securement.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of world events and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ability to maintain proper licensure, medical certification, and a valid driving record.
