Job summary

Flexible Pavements of Ohio seeks a Pavements & Materials Engineer/Technician to support Southern and Southwest Ohio. The role requires field assessments, design recommendations, and strong communication with industry stakeholders.

The candidate should understand pavement design, maintenance, and Ohio DOT specs, with a degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred. Travel within Ohio is expected.

Qualifications

  • Strong customer focus and excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Ohio DOT Construction & Materials Specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates technical information to members, public and pavement owners via documents, presentations and events.
  • Performs field assessments including onsite project review and design recommendations.
  • Represents industry before state and local agencies and committees.
  • Develops training, provides instruction and technical presentations.
  • Assists in developing written technical publications and articles.

Job description

Flexible Pavements of Ohio (FPO) is an association representing the interests of the asphalt paving industry in the State of Ohio.

FPO is seeking to fill the position of Pavements & Materials Engineer/Technician for Southern & Southwest Ohio. Regional and out of state travel is required. The applicant should be proficient in various computer skills and software to include Microsoft Office and web-based communication tools. Applicant should be detail oriented and have a very strong customer focus and possess a working knowledge of pavement design and construction including: mixture types, pavement thickness design, and pavement maintenance. Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills are a must. A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field is preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered. Must possess a working knowledge of the Ohio Department of Transportation Construction & Materials Specifications. Registration in the State of Ohio as a Professional Engineer is preferred. Salary based on experience and qualifications

Primary Duties
  • Communicates technical information and assistance to FPO members, public and private pavement owners through written documentation, oral presentations, and in person events.
  • Performs field assessments including onsite project review, pre-construction asphalt design and mixture recommendations and post construction evaluation.
  • Represents the interests of the industry before state, federal, and local government agencies and affiliated industry committees and associations.
  • Develops training, provides instruction and technical presentations.
  • Assists in developing written technical publications and articles.
