Job summary

Lane Construction is seeking a seasoned Project Controls Engineer to support large highway projects in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area. The role focuses on CPM scheduling, cost control, and risk mitigation to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of heavy civil highway experience and a Bachelor's degree, with strong communication skills to coordinate with engineers and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in heavy civil - highway construction.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Influences the financial performance of a project by monitoring scheduling, forecasting, and cost control efforts.
  • Identifies and mitigates risks to minimize project delays and cost overruns.
  • Conducts regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Collaborates with engineers and stakeholders to resolve design issues and address changes.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key business partners and stakeholders.
  • Directs project contract management to review, address and resolve contractual issues & claims.
  • Establishes and promotes a safety culture.

Overview

Position will support large highway construction projects in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area.

Responsibilities
  • Influences the financial performance of a project by monitoring scheduling, forecasting, and cost control efforts.
  • Identifies and mitigates risks to minimize project delays and cost overruns.
  • Conducts regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Collaborates with engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve design issues and address any changes.
  • Closely monitors communicates risks, status etc. in project review meetings.
  • Drives the pursuit of claims & change orders, tracks and reports on progress.
  • Oversees procurement or buy-out process to ensure it adheres to set budget.
  • Ensures the development & use of a CPM schedule throughout the life of the project.
  • Directs project contract management to review, address and resolve contractual issues & claims.
  • Establishes and promotes a safety culture.
  • Oversees procurement or buy-out process to ensure it adheres to set budget.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key business partners and stakeholders.
  • Ensures subcontractors and suppliers are closely managed.
  • Manages employees by mentoring, coaching, providing feedback and assessing performance.
  • Evaluates employee's performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
