Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Houston District Laboratory seeks a Pavement Engr Specialist I or II to collect and analyze pavement field data using destructive and non-destructive methods for design, rehabilitation, and forensic investigations. The role reviews statewide data, develops reports, and assists with data quality audits.

The position supports pavement design, condition assessments, materials testing, and forensic evaluations, with travel and onsite work at the Houston

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent.
• 6 years engineering, mechanical, electrical or electronics design, fabrication, installation, calibration, testing, maintenance, data collection, computer science experience.
• Valid driver’s license; driving a state vehicle.
• Pavement Distress Rater certification within one year of hire if performing pavement evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze pavement field data using destructive and non-destructive testing methods for design, rehabilitation, and forensic investigations.
• Review and validate statewide pavement management system data; process pavement performance information; develop reports and assist with data quality audits.
• Support pavement engineering activities including condition assessments, materials testing, design, and forensic evaluations.
• Conduct pavement data audits to ensure completeness and accuracy of data; monitor quality assurance and storage of data.
• Attend data collection activities; travel as needed (up to 25%).
