Job summary

Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library (EVPL) is seeking a Full-Time Library Assistant at EVPL Central. The Library Assistant guides patrons, helps with wayfinding and technology, and promotes EVPL services and events.

Required: High School Diploma or GED, 1+ years in customer service, and experience with office software. Flexibility for evenings/weekends and reliable transportation is needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1+ years’ experience in direct customer service.
• 1+ years’ experience with computers and software (printers, digital catalogs, eReaders, etc.).
• Enthusiasm for reading and learning.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
• Must have reliable transportation to work.
• Must be available for evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons and guide them to facilities, services and resources.
• Explain library policies, issue library cards and manage accounts.
• Support technology questions and shelving materials.
• Promote EVPL services, programs and experts to the community.
• Maintain a welcoming, safe environment and assist with special projects.
