Job summary

Tuscaloosa Public Library is seeking a Library Associate for our Circulation department. This part-time, non-exempt position requires day, evening, and weekend availability, with a 19-hour weekly schedule.

You will assist patrons, process check-ins/outs, handle card applications, and support daily library operations. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s or associate degree, or four years of library-related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree required, or four years of public library experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patrons with material requests and circulation needs.
• Check materials in and out and process library card applications.
• Sort, shelve, shelf read, and maintain library collections.
• Answer phone calls and assist patrons with computer use.
• Inspect and repair damaged materials as directed.
• Create and maintain displays for the library.
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally.
• Operate library equipment such as scanners, copiers, and carts.
• Support special projects and daily library operations.
• Follow library policies and safety procedures.
