Job summary

Army NAF is seeking a Library Technician in Hawaii to provide a range of public services, including circulation, shelving, reference help, and basic cataloging support. The role includes maintaining records and assisting with automated systems maintenance.

The position requires either one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade or two years of post-secondary education, or an equivalent combination. Work may involve physically demanding tasks and rotating shifts.

Qualifications

  • One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade OR two years of education above high school OR a combination of specialized experience and education that equates to 100% of the qualification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technician support by performing a wide variety of direct services to the public: registers patrons, charges/discharges materials, processes overdues and reserves.
  • Shelves library materials, prepares displays, programs activities, answers basic reference questions, and assists customers in locating materials.
  • Provides technical services support in cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing and de-acquisitioning of library materials.
  • Maintains accountability records and performs shelf inventories; conducts simple maintenance on the library's automated systems.
  • May perform physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, crouching, and lifting heavy items such as boxes of books.
