Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen; must have a high school diploma or GED; be at least 21 years of age prior to completion of the field training program.
• If applicant is not a US citizen but is in naturalization process, DCJS waiver is required.
• Successful applicants must pass a physical agility test.
• Must have Virginia driver license with limited demerit points; vision 20/25; weight in proportion to height.
• No felonies or habitual misdemeanors; no sex offenses or domestic assault.

Responsibilities

• Operate an assigned patrol vehicle and patrol county areas for traffic and criminal violations.
• Respond to citizen calls, complaints and requests for information.
• Conduct victim, witness, and suspect interviews; prepare detailed reports.
• Make arrests; testify in court; engage with community groups and organizations.
