Patrol Officer - Wilton Police Department

The Wilton Police Department is seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Patrol Officers. If you are passionate about making a difference in a close-knit community and enjoy small-town policing, this is the opportunity for you!

Responsibilities:

• Community policing and building positive relationships with residents.
• Investigating crimes and assisting with case resolution, including gathering evidence, witness interviews, booking and required report completion.
• Traffic enforcement, patrolling neighborhoods, and answering calls and complaints
• Use radar to control traffic speed in community and issue citations.
• Responding to emergencies and incidents within the community.
• Participating in community events and outreach programs.

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge of the buildings, roads and infrastructure of the Town, and surrounding areas.
• Knowledge of modern principles and practices of police work.
• Ability to act professionally in high pressure situations.
• Ability to analyze quickly and subjectively to determine course of action.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
• Ability to develop skills with firearms and motor vehicles.
• High School Diploma required, and formal training in Law Enforcement preferred.
• Required: Valid Driver's License.

Consideration will be based on a combination of training and experience.

Expected to attend and complete the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
