Job summary

The Albemarle Police Department is seeking a dedicated officer to perform a full range of general law enforcement duties within the patrol division. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Patrol streets by car, on foot, or by bicycle; check doors and windows; observe premises; deter crime and report hazards.
• Respond to calls for assistance and incidents; determine needed actions; protect victims and enforce laws.
• Investigate traffic accidents; issue citations; direct traffic and assist with emergency operations.
• Conduct investigations, question witnesses, gather evidence, make arrests and testify in court.
• Advise the public on laws and local ordinances; testify in court; execute warrants; serve papers as needed.
• Regulate traffic at busy times; manage crowds at events; coordinate with supervisors and other officers.
• Operate radios and databases; prepare detailed incident and activity reports.
• Assist with background investigations and training; contribute to department security and in-service training.
