Job summary

Larimer County Sheriff's Office in Fort Collins, Colorado, seeks experienced P.O.S.T. Certified Deputy Officers for a lateral hire. The position welcomes officers with 1–3+ years of patrol experience; compensation starts at $39.65–$43.71 per hour, determined by experience.

This is a lateral selection process with potential to start at Step 3 of our compensation plan. We offer extensive training, the chance to serve a county-wide community, and robust retirement options.

Qualifications

• Colorado P.O.S.T. Certification required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 21 years of age by date of hire.
• No felony convictions; no domestic violence convictions.
• First aid and CPR certificates required within 12 weeks from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide law enforcement duties to protect citizens and maintain order.
• Effectively communicate, de-escalate situations, and resolve conflicts.
• Determine justified detention and search/arrest when probable cause exists.
• Subdue resisting suspects using approved techniques and use of force.
• Testify in court and prepare legal/non-legal documents.
• Read and process legal and non-legal documents.
