Job summary

Alamance County Sheriff's Office seeks a full-time Sworn Deputy for the Patrol Division. Under supervision, perform general law enforcement duties across patrol, civil courts, and investigations in Alamance County.

Shift structure includes two permanent day shifts and two permanent night shifts (12 hours each) with a $4,000 shift stipend. Must be NC-LEO certified and pass comprehensive screenings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current North Carolina Law Enforcement Officer (BLET) certification required.
• Valid North Carolina driver's license required.
• Pass oral interview, background check, polygraph, psychological evaluation and drug screening required.

Responsibilities

• Performs general law enforcement duties in Patrol Division, including investigations, arrests, and testimony.
• Provides routine patrol of county roadways to enforce laws and promote safety.
• Serves civil papers, handles court-related duties, and escorts prisoners and juries when needed.
• Opens/closes courts, maintains courtroom order, and assists defendants and witnesses.
• Coordinates with other agencies during investigations and arrests.
• Provides protective escorts at public events and community activities.
• Operates speed detection devices or breath analyzers as required.
• Prepares daily crime reports and related documentation.
• Assists in crime prevention initiatives and community outreach.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
