Job summary

Holland Hospital is seeking a part-time/variable-shift patient care assistant to support patient care, transport, and diagnostic testing under RN or Radiology Technologist supervision. Duties include documenting patient data, preparing patients for imaging, and assisting with procedures.

Under supervision of the RN and/or Radiology Technologist, serves as an integral member of the health care team by performing clerical and patient care assignments as delegated and permitted by law and regulatory bodies and institutional policies and procedures. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned area.

Job Type: Part-Time or VSP with Flexible Scheduling Shift Options: 5.5-hour, 8-hour, or 9-hour shifts Available Shifts: Weekdays: 3:30 PM - 9:00 PM Additional weekday opportunities: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (as available) Weekends: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Weekend Requirement: Flexible, with weekend rotation varying based on staffing needs (typically every other weekend). Wage Range: $14.85-$20.80

PATIENT CARE, TRANSPORT, and DIAGNOSTIC TESTING

Assists in the delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Radiology Technologist and receives written and/or verbal assignments and direction. Documents patient care activities and patient data accurately using appropriate documentation forms and/or information systems. Performs clinical skills and/or diagnostic testing including but not limited to Lymphedema index (L-Dex), prepping patient for imaging exam, and assisting technologist with imaging procedures. Completes assigned patient duties within the time-frame established by the Registered Nurse or Radiology Technologist. Gathers data including but not limited to: Intake; output; vital signs; patient height and weight; and, point-of-care test results. Communicates with broader care team to coordinate appropriate follow up care for patient. Observes patients carefully for changes and reports in a timely manner. Assists with other duties as assigned including but not limited to assisting with invasive radiology procedures. Transports/escorts patients safely to and from inpatient units, emergency department, or outpatient waiting room; under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Technologist addresses patient monitoring device connection/re-connection and/or supplemental oxygen connections.

STANDARDS

Utilizes information while upholding the policies and procedures of Holland Hospital to continuously improve patient care, safety, and practice to enhance outcomes. Reports patient safety issues utilizing the MOOR occurrence reporting system. Able to describe the unit based quality improvement activities and implications for practice. Assists with data collection for quality improvement activities. Assists with the identification of actual and potential risks to patient safety. Achieves unit specific initial and ongoing competencies. Provides close care/1:1 direct observation of patients to maintain patient safety as assigned. Interacts with and contributes to the professional development and training of peers, colleagues, and students.

UNIT MAINTENANCE

Supports the operation of the unit by completing assigned tasks. Performs ongoing supplies inventory. Stocks and cleans patient care areas. Assists with regulatory checks as delegated. Maintains a neat, uncluttered environment in patient room and/or treatment area.

CLERICAL AND RECEPTION

Supports patient care and unit operations by completing assigned tasks under supervision of the Registered Nurse or Radiology Technologist. Functions as unit medical records receptionist by promptly, politely, and professionally answering phone and greeting customers. Performs file, chart, and forms maintenance; including but not limited to handling release of records, obtaining outside images, facilitating courier delivery/pick-up, and knowledge of PACS functions related to imaging records. Assists with requests and facilitates communication between members of the health care team. Assists with other clerical/reception duties as assigned. Demonstrates knowledge of computer downtime procedures.
