Job description

We are hiring immediately for a part-time PATIENT TRANSPORTER position.

Location: Memorial Hospital - 4500 Memorial Drive, Belleville, IL 62226

Schedule: Part-time, 11:00 am to 7:30 pm. Days may vary; more details upon interview.

Requirement: No experience required.

Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour

Job Summary

Patient Transporter

Summary: Responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items to their destinations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Properly and safely transport patients, securing IVs, drainage tubes, etc., and securing the patient.
• Use wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock to carry out transportation duties.
• Demonstrate competency in transporting all specific age groups.
• Ensure the safe, timely, and accurate transport of patients using proper equipment.
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff, clinicians, technicians, or reception and dispatch.
• Ensure patient comfort by being attentive, offering blankets, checking modesty, and engaging in appropriate conversation. Never transport patients in severe pain.
• Alert nursing staff immediately to signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.
• Maintain and report on equipment needing repairs.
• Comply with regulatory standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO.
• Adhere to confidentiality and patient rights policies per HIPAA.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
