Job summary

Mercy is seeking a dedicated Transporter to move patients and equipment between departments within the Medical Center. You’ll perform various patient-related tasks and ensure safety and proper body mechanics at all times.

Use Epic software to track patient locations and equipment movement while collaborating with coworkers across departments. A High School Diploma or equivalent and BLS CPR/AED certification are required, with at least two years of customer service experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS CPR/AED certification required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients and equipment safely between departments.

Job description

Find your calling at Mercy! Transports patients and equipment to and from various departments within the Medical Center. Performs various patient related activities, as assigned. Patients are transported in a safe manner and proper body mechanics are utilized at all times. Maintains PAR levels for equipment in various locations throughout the Medical Center. Continuously shows the ability to work well with other co-workers (both within the Patient Transportation Department and other departments). Uses Epic software to track each patient's location as they travel to and from designated areas throughout the facility. Uses Epic software to track equipment movement throughout the facility.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.

Transforming the Health of Our Communities

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
