Mercy is seeking a transporter to move patients and equipment across the Medical Center, while ensuring safety and proper body mechanics. The role includes training new coworkers on the transport process and using Epic to track movements.
Minimum requirements include at least one year of transporting experience, two years in customer service, and a BLS CPR/AED certification. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Find your calling at Mercy! Transports patients and equipment to and from various departments within the Medical Center. Performs various patient related activities, as assigned. Trains new co-workers on all aspects of the Transport process. Ensures Patients are transported in a safe manner and proper body mechanics are utilized at all times. Maintains PAR levels for equipment in various locations throughout Mercy. Regularly wears personal protective equipment (PPE). Continuously shows the ability to work well with other co-workers (both within the Patient Transportation Department and other departments). Uses Epic software to track each patient's location as they travel to and from designated areas throughout the facility. Uses Epic software to track patient and equipment movement throughout the facility. Trains new co-workers to operate Epic correctly. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and guiding principles and Mercy Service Standards. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
