Job Summary

Patient Transporter

Facilitating internal hospital patient moves.

Responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Transport patients safely, securing IVs, drainage tubes, etc., and ensuring patient security.
• Use wheelchairs and other approved equipment to carry out transport duties.
• Demonstrate competency in transporting patients of all age groups.
• Ensure safe and accurate transport to destinations using proper equipment.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare staff and reception.
• Ensure patient comfort and modesty, and avoid transporting patients in severe pain.
• Report any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction immediately.
• Maintain and report on equipment condition.
• Comply with all regulatory standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO.
• Adhere to confidentiality and patient rights policies per HIPAA.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
