Overview

To facilitate the movement of patients throughout the hospital to and from the Imaging Department in a safe, timely, and efficient manner, following hospital and departmental policies and procedures. To provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and other healthcare team members. To support the team in providing patient care when not transporting.

Responsibilities

1. Uses proper two (2) patient identifiers for safety and reports hazards to management.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of the cognitive and sensory needs of pediatric and geriatric patients, applying this knowledge in instructions and explanations.
3. Attends departmental education and meetings.
4. Uses correct body mechanics and lifting techniques; uses gait belts and obtains assistance as needed.
5. Follows infection control policies, wears PPE appropriately, and maintains a clean environment.
6. Contacts telemetry during patient moves and completes related documentation.
7. Performs CPR if needed.
8. Prepares patients for transport, communicates with nursing staff about patient condition, and assists with lifting and safety checks.
9. Follows oxygen guidelines and works independently using available resources.
10. Informs nurses when taking and returning patients, ensuring safety checks are performed.
11. Provides age-appropriate comfort measures and introduces self to patients.
12. Familiar with hospital locations, greets patients and guests, and maintains a friendly environment.
13. Operates wheelchairs, beds, and carts safely and maintains equipment in proper order.
14. Identifies and reports equipment safety issues and hazards.
15. Maintains confidentiality and adheres to hospital policies and standards, documenting safety events appropriately.

Compensation and Benefits
