Job description

Overview

To facilitate the movement of patients throughout the hospital to and from the Imaging Department in a safe, timely, and efficient manner, adhering to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare team members. Support the team in patient care when not transporting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities
  1. Use proper two (2) patient identifiers for safety and report hazards to management.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of pediatric and geriatric patient needs, applying this knowledge during patient interactions.
  3. Attend departmental education and meetings.
  4. Use correct body mechanics and lifting techniques; obtain assistance as needed.
  5. Follow infection control policies, including handwashing, PPE use, and equipment cleaning.
  6. Coordinate with telemetry and confirm transport documentation.
  7. Perform CPR if needed.
  8. Prepare patients for transport, communicate patient conditions to nurses, and assist with patient lifting and comfort measures.
  9. Follow oxygen guidelines and operate equipment safely.
  10. Work independently, utilizing resources efficiently.
  11. Notify nurses when taking and returning inpatients and ED patients, perform safety checks, and ensure patient comfort.
  12. Introduce yourself to patients, explain the process, and accompany patients during transport.
  13. Be familiar with hospital locations and maintain equipment properly, reporting any issues.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies and values.
  15. Document safety events appropriately.
