Job description

Job Overview:

The Patient Transporter ensures safe patient handling and moves patients within the hospital from admission to discharge. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential. Candidates must handle a fast-paced, physical environment.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Successful completion of site personnel general orientation
• Successful completion of department orientation
• Social and communication skills

Preferred:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Scheduling Requirements:

• 6:30am - 3:00pm
• Variable days with weekends and holidays rotation
• Full-time

Essential Functions:

• Assist patients in and out of beds with nurse or PCT support
• Ensure patient comfort and safety during transit
• Transport patients to appropriate units or imaging within expected time frames
• Maintain communication with Transport Dispatcher and use the automated system for task updates
• Assist with bed management, including organization, cleaning, and oxygen tank removal
• Follow isolation protocols, PPE use, and hand hygiene
• Use two patient identifiers for correct patient identification
• Sign in and out of logbook
• Print ticket to ride
• Notify nursing staff upon patient arrival
