Responsibilities

• Support the varied patient transportation needs within the hospital environment in a safe, efficient, and timely manner to related service areas.
• Transport jobs are accepted and completed without delay. Obtain appropriate equipment prior to arriving at the floor. Check patient identifiers before moving patients.
• Ensure equipment is checked before each transport for safety and proper functioning. Clean equipment per department standards between transports. Report unsafe or damaged equipment to the team leader and remove from service.
• Notify the appropriate caregiver of the intent to transport the patient. Maintain trip sheets with complete and accurate information. Communicate pertinent patient information to the receiving caregiver.
• Complete training on all safe handling devices. Assess patients to determine the most appropriate lift equipment. Use lift assist devices on all needed transports.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate Equivalent - GED preferred; High School Diploma preferred.
• Experience: None required.
• License & Certification: None required.
