Qualifications

• Prefer 6 months of experience in healthcare and/or customer service.
• Must have current CPR-Heartsaver course completion card within 90 days of hire.

Primary Purpose

Transports patients around PHHS by wheelchair, stretcher, beds, and gurney to ensure patient safety.

Minimum Specifications

Education

None.

Experience

Prefer 6 months of experience in healthcare and/or customer service.

Certification/Registration/Licensure

Must have current CPR-Heartsaver course completion card within 90 days of hire and/or placement from one of the following:

• American Heart Association
• American Red Cross Rescuer
• Military Training Network

Tests for Placement

None.

Skills or Special Abilities

• Must be able to read and write.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to represent Parkland positively.
• Must exhibit caring, service-oriented behaviors and be able to defuse emotionally charged situations.
• Must apply sound judgment in addressing questions and problems from patients and visitors.
• Must follow both oral and written directions.
• Must communicate effectively with patients, nurses, physicians, and other hospital staff.
• Must have basic math skills.
• Must complete a Preventative Back Injury & Proper Lift Technique class within 90 days of hire and demonstrate proficiency.

Responsibilities

1. Safely transport patients via stretcher or wheelchair within PHHS, including the transport of supplies and belongings during discharges.
2. Assist in transporting critical care patients with clinical staff, e.g., ICU to Radiology.
3. Maintain positive relationships with hospital staff to facilitate effective communication.
4. Identify improvements in work processes and customer satisfaction, making recommendations and implementing changes as appropriate.
5. Stay informed about customer service developments through seminars and publications, integrating knowledge into practice.
6. Maintain knowledge of relevant rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines, developing controls to ensure compliance.
