Job summary

The Patient Transporter is responsible for greeting patients on admission and transporting them to the appropriate destinations to help maintain smooth department flow. Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent and BLS/CPR certification; a Medical Terminology course is preferred.

No prior experience is required, and confidentiality and teamwork are essential. The job involves lifting up to 100 lbs and frequent standing, supporting a patient-centered team in a fast-paced hospital

Qualifications

• BLS/CPR certification required or current/renewal in healthcare
• Ability to operate standard hospital equipment and cooperate with team members
• Confidentiality and professional conduct at all times

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to various hospital departments and procedures as needed
• Obtains old charts and history from Medical Records
• Answers incoming phone lines and transfers calls as needed
• Participates in unit meetings and continuing education to grow in the role
• Maintains cleanliness of patient areas and assists with discharge transports
• Delivers medical records to appropriate locations and files items

Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Medical Terminology course preferred
• Current BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cros for healthcare providers
• no previous experience required
• Ability to demonstrate use of various equipment including, but not limited to computer, photocopy machine and present telephone system
• Ability to relate well with physicians, patients of all ages, and co-workers
• Ability to prioritize and problem solve
• Maintain a calm and reasonable attitude at all times
• Keeps all information regarding patients confidential

Duties & Responsibilities:

Job Summary

The Patient Transporter is responsible for assisting on a daily basis with maintaining the appropriate level of department flow by greeting patients upon admission and transporting patients to appropriate destinations.

Duties

• Transports patients to various hospital departments before and after procedures as needed
• Obtains old charts and history and physicals from Medical Records Department
• Answer incoming phone lines and transfer when needed
• Participate in unit meetings and educational activities in order to develop skills and grow in awareness
• Maintain cleanliness of patient areas
• Transports patient via wheelchair to private transportation vehicle after discharge
• Typing and collecting all items requested
• Delivery of medical records to proper locations
• Filing pertinent items.
• Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Lifting Requirements: Heavy lifting: up to 100 Ibs. maximum with frequent and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 Ibs. Must be able to stand, stoop and lift and walk without restrictions.
