Job summary

Edward Elmhurst Health is seeking a Patient Transporter at Elmhurst Hospital. Under supervision, you will transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher and handle IV pumps and equipment as needed. High-school diploma and BLS certification required, with at least six months of related experience.

Shift is 6am–2:30pm, including every other weekend and rotating holidays; benefits are provided. Position emphasizes safety, efficiency, and compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Minimum six months of customer service or patient transporter experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or other means.
• Disconnect/connect patient IV pumps from IV pole and oxygen as needed.
• Deliver patient equipment to nursing floors as required.
• Assist with transfers and positioning of patients with care and safety in mind.

Work requires the ability to lift over 50 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. a distance of 30 feet. Push/pull > 200 lbs. (i.e. Patients on bed, stretcher) Lateral transfer or max assist sit to stand transfer.What you will do:Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher, bed or alternative means. This includes disconnecting and re-connecting patient’s IV pumps from the IV pole and oxygen.
