Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous customer service experience is required.
• Must read, write, speak and understand English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients, visitors and related items safely and efficiently across Mayo Clinic campus.
• Interact with nurses, radiology techs, desk staff, door attendants and others.
• Input and manage transport requests via computers or dispatch by phone.
• Stand and/or walk 8 hours, 10–12 miles per shift; push/pull patients up to 200 lb, occasionally 350 lb.
• Operate and assist with motorized patient transport equipment; ensure safety.
• Disinfect equipment after each use; report maintenance needs.
• Transport patients requiring oxygen, IV pumps, wound vacs, or other equipment; assist with transfers.
• Assist patients in and out of wheelchairs and stretchers; verify patient identity with two identifiers.
• Follow oxygen protocols and confirm with staff before transport; adhere to isolation precautions.
• Provide clear verbal communication during drop-off and pick-up in inpatient settings.
• Hours may include days/evenings/overnights/holidays/weekends; expected to complete 80 hours of on-the-job training.
