Job summary

Riverside Health System in Newport News, VA is seeking a patient transport teammate to move patients, charts and belongings safely by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed. You will work with clinical staff to ensure safe patient transitions and proper handling of medications and oxygen.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED (preferred), 1 year of public/customer service experience, and CPR/BLS certification (preferred). Weekend and variable shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or preferred.
• 1 year experience working with the public in a customer service capacity or related (Preferred).
• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/ARC (Upon Hire) (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Efficiently and safely transports patients via stretcher, bed or wheelchair.
• Collaborates with clinical staff to ensure proper transition of medication and oxygen.
• Communicates with leaders to escalate safety issues and ensure precautions for high-risk patients.
• Obtains equipment and linen needed to transport patients; ensures equipment is clean per Infection Control policies.
• Ensures compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, HIPAA, Infection Control, and proper body mechanics.
• Assists with candidate selection and onboarding to include department orientation and training.
• Open to flexible scheduling to meet departmental staffing needs during essential times.
• Assists patients, family members, and visitors with directions.
