Job summary

University Hospitals in Westlake, OH seeks a patient transport associate to provide safe, efficient transport of patients, equipment and supplies within the hospital. You will perform transport duties, assist in training new hires, and communicate with other departments to assess transport needs.

You will be oriented to the hospital layout, handle data entry via Tele-Tracking, follow patient identification and alert processes, and maintain PHI security.

Qualifications

• Ability to safely transport patients, equipment, and supplies.
• Ability to train new hires in transport procedures.
• Excellent communication with other departments.
• Interact with patients and customers to meet needs.
• Familiarity with hospital layout and testing areas.
• Proficient data entry via Tele-Tracking System.
• Good body mechanics for lifting/moving patients.
• Understanding of Patient Identification and Alert Process.
• Must pass N95 fit testing.
• PHI handling in compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe efficient transport of patients, equipment, and miscellaneous supplies.
• Performs transport duties as needed and assist in training new hires.
• Communicates with other departments to assess their transport needs.
• Must interact with patients and customers to ensure patient/Customers’ needs are met.
• Must be oriented to physical layout of the hospital and locations of patient testing areas.
• Performs data entry and receives dispatch information via Tele-Tracking System.
• Must use proper body mechanics for lifting and/or moving patients.
• Understands and uses the Patient Identification and Alert Process.
• Must pass fit testing for N95 mask.
• Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain PHI for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
