Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is seeking a Manager of Patient Transport to lead one of the nation’s busiest transport teams, coordinating non-ambulatory patient lifts, x-ray results delivery, and other critical deliveries across the medical complex.

With a focus on efficiency and patient care, you will mentor future leaders, leverage Tele‑Tracking systems, and drive improvements in transport operations within Washington University Medical Center.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-5 years of experience in hospital transport or similar operations.
• Supervisor experience < 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Manages the operations and integrates transport services throughout the hospital.
• Oversees the supervision of the transport department.
• Researches, evaluates, selects and implements systems which improve efficiency of work unit operations.
• Manages personnel: hires, trains, assigns work, evaluates performance, and conducts development plans to meet department goals.

Overview

Barnes‑Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The goal of the Patient Transport Department is to transport patients in a safe and timely manner throughout the medical complex, promote the safety and well being of all patients that we serve, and maintain transport equipment within the medical complex. Patient Transport employs a state of the art Tele‑Tracking system to facilitate and coordinate assignments throughout the hospital to support efficiency and customer/patient care. Patient Transport offers career opportunities starting in entry level progressing into lead, trainer, supervisor, and management positions.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Manages and coordinates lifts for non‑ambulatory patients, transports for patients who require greater assistance than normally expected, delivery of x‑ray results, medical records, specimens, and other kinds of special deliveries throughout the medical complex.

Responsibilities

• Manages the operations and integrates transport services throughout the hospital.
• Oversees the supervision of the transport department.
• Researches, evaluates, selects and implements systems which improve efficiency of work unit operations.
• Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
