Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is seeking a Patient Transporter to move patients, lab specimens, and x-ray films across the medical campus, ensuring timely deliveries. The role supports clinical teams in a fast-paced environment, with shift pattern Monday through Friday, from noon to 10:30 pm, four 10-hour shifts per week, and no weekend work.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED; no prior experience required; CPR/AED and Basic Life Support

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required.
• Basic Cardiovascular Life Support (BCLS) and CPR/AED certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transports and lifts non-ambulatory patients, x-rays, medical records, specimens, and other items across the hospital while following safety protocols.
• Maintains clean and functional equipment.
• Completes tasks within department expectations.

Role Purpose

The Patient Transporter transports patients and/or items such as lab specimens and x-ray films to and from patient rooms and ancillary areas in a timely manner. Provides an acceptable flow of customer and miscellaneous items to and from different treatment areas, physician's offices, and other areas throughout the medical complex.

• Transports and lifts non-ambulatory patients, x-rays, medical records, specimens, and other special deliveries throughout hospital campus. Pays close attention to patient safety protocols.

• Completes assigned tasks within department expectations.
