Arc at Kankakee is seeking a Transportation Driver to safely transport patients to and from hospitals, clinics, dialysis centers, and residences. You will provide exceptional customer service while assisting residents with seating, belts, wheelchairs, and groceries.

The role requires a valid Illinois driver’s license, passenger endorsement or equivalent, and the ability to communicate clearly. You’ll perform pre/post-trip inspections, maintain the vehicle, and follow infection control and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Active Illinois Driver’s License required.
• Class C license with passenger endorsement for 15+ passengers or Class E for 14 or fewer.
• No driver under 25 or over 74 per insurance.
• DOT compliant physical; annual physician’s statement for older drivers transporting 15+ passengers.
• Experience as a bus or van driver preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; writing and computer skills required.

Responsabilités

• Provides a high level of customer service while transporting residents to activities, appointments and other outings.
• Assists residents including boarding and leaving the bus, with seat belts, securing wheelchairs and walkers, and groceries.
• Maintains safety of residents at all times and monitors safety during boarding, transit, and building entry/exit.
• Performs general vehicle upkeep including fueling, oil checks, tire pressure and taking the vehicle to service facilities.
• Completes daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintains vehicle cleanliness.
• Follows safety procedures and reports hazards, accidents, or equipment issues to supervisor.
• Communicates schedule progress with facility and receives additional instructions.
• Operates GPS, two-way radio, and cell phone to navigate effectively.
